Three-day music festival scheduled for Aug. 21-23
Guaranteed Fresh Fest may be the most eclectic music festival in the Methow Valley — or anywhere else, for that matter.
A lot of events cater strictly to fans of country, metal, bluegrass, reggae or hip-hop. Guaranteed Fresh Fest, coming Aug. 21–23 to John Doran’s ranch north of Twisp, gives you all of the above and more.
Headlining on opening night is local favorite Battle Alpaca, a band festival organizer Silas Goggiel labeled as “stoner metal.”
“It’s metal, but it’s not, like, melt-your-face-off metal,” Goggiel said.
Saturday is reggae-centric, with three acts known in the highest circles of that genre: Perfect Giddimani, Blakkamoore and Yungg Trip.
Sunday skews toward American roots music, with Pay Dirt closing out the festival that evening.
The Bellingham-based band, which Goggiel described as “high-energy bluegrass Americana,” impressed a couple years ago at a TwispWorks show.
“We’ve been trying for a couple years to get them out here,” he said.
Every day at Guaranteed Fresh Fest may have a theme, but each day brings a little bit of everything, from Jamerson Cheer, a Native American hip-hop artist from Omak, to late-night electronic dance music sets — what the kids simply call EDM.
“We want to make it for all age groups, from … the boomers, all the way to Gen Z and Gen Alpha,” said Goggiel, who himself qualifies as an older millennial.
“What did we grow up listening to? It’s the stuff our parents played for us,” he said. “What did we find that we really liked? The genres that came around in the ’90s or late ’80s: hip-hop and grunge, and reggae music being more dancehall oriented in that era — just fun, energetic music.”
Reggae stars
Goggiel, who performs as Essential I and will take the stage himself on Saturday, is on a mission to expose the Methow Valley to more reggae. He had a lot to say about Saturday’s headliners, including Perfect Giddimani, who will close out the night.

Perfect put out a hit 25 years ago, “Hand Cart Bwoy,” which became an anthem for Jamaican street vendors. He’s also featured on Jesse Royal’s “No Place Like Home,” which was nominated for Best Reggae Album for the 2026 Grammy Awards.
Producing that Royal and Perfect track was Yungg Trip, a longtime friend of Goggiel’s who will take the Fresh Fest stage on Saturday, too.
Trip has made a name for himself as a producer, laying down the beats for a number of vocal artists. He recently moved from Bellingham to Los Angeles.
“He was one of the people that spearheaded the newer reggae movement in Washington, and then kind of saw that through to where it was able to stand on its own,” Goggiel said.
One of Trip’s regular collaborators is Blakkamoore, another Saturday headliner.
Blakkamore is from Brooklyn but was born in Guyana. His music reflects his background: a blend of dancehall and hip-hop.
“Perfect puts on a great stage show. Blakkamoore as well. With Yungg Trip being their production DJ for the event, it’s gonna be a seamless, big-time reggae dancehall mashup night,” Goggiel said. “It’ll be undeniable how much good, positive energy comes out of it.”
Growing pains
Guaranteed Fresh Fest has been on a steady growth trajectory since its launch in 2023. But with that growth has come some growing pains.
Organizers say they are dedicating this year’s festival to members of the music community who can’t be there.
Terry Hunt, the music director at Cascadia Music and a Fresh Fest alumnus, is being treated for a serious illness. DJs Mike Jones, aka Jonesy, and Nolan Loucks of Insite Sounds both died in the past couple years. Loucks was slated to DJ the late-night party on Friday.
“They were both really crucial, integral parts since the first year of Guaranteed Fresh,” Goggiel said of Loucks and Jones.
Satori Soundsystem and Blue Jay will perform late Friday night to pay tribute to Louck and Jones, with numerous guests.
“We want to provide that space for everybody to come and celebrate their lives with us,” Goggiel said. “We love them and we wish they were still going to be here with us.”
