Cascades Outdoor Store in Winthrop has been nominated for a Grassroots Outdoor Alliance retailing award in the “Rookie of the Year” category, which acknowledges the efforts of new alliance members. Owners Brian and Amy Sweet opened the store in 2014, and joined the Grassroots Outdoor Alliance in 2017. The alliance, which is a consortium of 64 independent outdoor specialty retailers and 68 vendor partners, represents the best of specialty retail, according to a press release. The awards, which will be given out on June 13, 2018, in Knoxville, Tennessee, are voted on by members in recognition of exceptional work and leadership.
