The Community Foundation of NCW has awarded $90,000 in Stronger Schools Grants to schools across North Central Washington, including the Methow Valley School District’s Independent Learning Center in Twisp and Methow Valley Elementary School.
The Independent Learning Center received a $5,000 grant to support a mentorship program to break the cycle of generational poverty
Methow Valley Elementary School received $2,500 for a “Ukuleles in the Classroom,” program, integrating literacy and music.
Stronger Schools is an annual grant that provides up to $5,000 per school and/or school district to support innovative programs that enhance student learning and engagement and get kids excited about school.
The foundation received 30 applications from across the region, and a review committee consisting of staff, board trustees, and volunteers visited each school to learn more about their projects and determine final awards.
