Stream restoration work project
The National Forest Foundation (NFF), in partnership with the Methow Salmon Recovery Foundation, the U.S. Forest Service, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, is seeking volunteers to help complete a stream restoration project in the Goat Creek drainage on Nov. 8. The work will benefit bull trout and other salmonids, and is part of the NFF’s Treasured Landscapes, Unforgettable Experiences Majestic Methow campaign. Volunteers will help mulch and cage trees and shrubs that have been planted in the riparian zone, and will be given a tour of the project site.
Participants will meet at the Goat Creek Sno-Park at 9 a.m. to carpool to the work site, and should plan to be back to the Sno-Park by 3 p.m. Dress warmly, in long sleeves, pants and sturdy shoes, and bring a sack lunch. Water, snacks, gloves, tools and hard hats will be provided. Pre-register at nff.wildapricot.org/event-207466, email dwallien@nationalforests.org, or call (206) 258-0388.
