The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) said on Tuesday (Aug. 4) that it is imposing “hoot owl” fishing restrictions on the Methow River as of Wednesday (Aug. 5). That means the river is closed to fishing from 2 p.m.-midnight every day. All species are affected. The restriction affects the Methow River from Lower Burma Road upstream to the Weeman Bridge, eight miles upstream of Winthrop. WDFW said that afternoon water temperatures in the Methow River are approaching the upper limit for survival of trout.
