Banquet supports mule deer and their habitat

June 19, 2015 by Methow Valley News

There’s still time to get tickets for the Mule Deer Foundation Banquet this Saturday (June 20). This is the second annual event for the Okanogan Trails chapter.

Last year’s event raised money to replant mule deer habitat that burned in the Carlton Complex Fire. It also helped with two ongoing projects — providing financial and volunteer assistance to a mule deer fawn mortality study being conducted by the University of Washington, and gathering data on mule deer movements to support safe wildlife crossings on Highway 97 between Riverside and Tonasket.

The foundation also supports habitat for black-tailed deer.

The event includes a prime rib or chicken dinner, games, live and silent auctions, and raffle prizes.

The event is at El Paraiso Restaurant in Okanogan. Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m.; dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available at (509) 322-0735 or online at www.muledeer.org/node/2283.

Tickets, which include a one-year membership, are $65 for an individual and $95 for a couple. An additional $30 buys dinner for someone in the same household of a current member, and $15 buys dinner for those under 13.
