Kids fish for prizes at Pearrygin on Saturday

April 22, 2015 by Methow Valley News

Saturday (April 25) is opening day of fishing season, when the Methow Eagles holds its annual fishing derby at the East Campground boat launch at Pearrygin Lake State Park.

“We’re looking forward to a great fishing season,” said Okanogan Highlands Area Manager Rick Lewis.

Derby registration starts at 8 a.m. Prizes will be given in three age categories — zero to 6 years old, 7 to 10 years old, and 11 to 14 years old — for largest fish caught. Final weigh-in is at noon and prizes will be awarded thereafter. Refreshments will be provided by the Eagles.

Kids under age 15 may fish without a license. The Discover Pass is required for parking in the state park or at the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife access area.
