The Okanogan Trails Chapter of the Mule Deer Foundation (MDF) will hold a fundraising dinner at 5 p.m. on Saturday (Nov. 22) at the Barn in Winthrop.
The benefit will raise money for habitat restoration and related projects to help mitigate damage from the Carlton Complex Fire to the region’s large mule deer herd.
Admission is $25 per person and $10 for students 17 and under.
The evening will include guest speaker Scott Fitkin, a raffle, auction, and much more according to regional director Dan McKinley of Spokane. Prizes will include firearms, optics, and guided outdoor trips.
“The big thing about this dinner is that 100 percent of the proceeds will remain right in Okanogan County for habitat restoration,” McKinley said.
Earlier on Saturday, a work party will gather at 10 a.m. at the Wells Wildlife Area in Bridgeport to paint 40 deer feeders that will help the herd survive the winter months. The work party is open to anyone interested in helping out, McKinley said.
“Folks are invited to come and help us paint the feeders and then join us for dinner later in the evening,” McKinley said.
