Wildlife training course at Basecamp

June 18, 2014 by Methow Valley News

Citizen volunteers can help prevent poaching and protect wildlife through a free Citizen Wildlife Training course that will be offered Sunday (June 22), 3 – 5 p.m., at North Cascades Basecamp in Mazama.

Presented by Eyes in the Woods, the two-hour class teaches how to identify, document and report poaching and other abuses of natural resources through a non-confrontational expert witness program.

The course will be taught by Cal Treser, enforcement officer with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, and Lee Davis of Eyes in the Woods, a nonprofit organization that helps state agencies protect wildlife and natural resources.

The training is sponsored by the Mule Deer Foundation, Conservation Northwest and Western Wildlife Outreach. North Cascades Basecamp is at 255 Lost River Road.  For more information call (509) 470-1767.
