Public works projects get underway soon in Twisp

Two projects totaling more than $1 million for new sidewalks, curbs and gutters in Twisp are expected to get underway as early as this fall.

The town recently awarded contracts for the projects, which are funded through federal and state money, said Public Works Director Andrew Denham.

Bluff Street work will hold up traffic in Winthrop much of May, June, July

After several years of anticipation by Winthrop residents, the Bluff Street construction project is scheduled to start on May 4. Wenatchee firm Hurst Construction was awarded the contract with the Town of Winthrop. Sixty working days in the construction contract puts the completion date on July 24, or earlier, according to Public Works Superintendent Rick Karro.
