Commissioner candidates file required financial reports

With just over five weeks until Election Day, the four candidates for the two open Okanogan County commissioner seats have raised almost $70,000 and spent $39,000.

The most expensive race is the District 2 contest between Andy Hover and Ashley Thrasher, with Hover bringing in almost $27,000, the highest contributions of all four candidates. Thrasher has raised $15,500.

Represent Okanogan County to register as committee

Represent Okanogan County (ROC) has decided to register with the state as a political committee, although the group maintains that its focus is on voter education and participation and does not meet the legal definition of a political committee.

In a statement posted on its website on Friday (Aug. 5), ROC announced that its board will file required reports with the state Public Disclosure Commission (PDC) “in the spirit of cooperation and transparency.”
