PUD must replace burned power poles before winter

Although the Okanogan County Public Utility District (PUD) was able to restore power fairly quickly after the August wildfires, 280 of the utility’s poles were so badly damaged that they have to be replaced before winter. The repairs will require one or two daytime power outages to make the repairs safely, according to General Manager John Grubich.

New structures to carry broadband, powerline cables

The PUD installed 11 extra-tall power poles south of Twisp that will carry fiber-optic cable for Internet access, the high-voltage transmission line, and the distribution line that carries electricity to each customer.

Fiber-optics to expand Internet access around Okanogan County
