Liberty Bell High School jumped out to an early lead, gave up some points in the third quarter and then reasserted themselves for a 41-22 victory over the Tigers at Tonasket last Friday night.

Senior Kegan Mitchell got the Lions on the scoreboard first with a 5-yard dash for a touchdown with only two and a half minutes gone in the first quarter. Kimball Smith nailed the extra point kick to set the score at 7-0.

Senior Mason Michelsen was on the receiving end of a Greyden Paz pass and toted the ball 69 yards for a 14-0 lead with just over seven minutes left in the first quarter.

With just over seven minutes remaining in the first half, and the Mountain Lions at the Tiger 39-yard line, a bad snap from center went over the head of quarterback Greyden Paz and rolled back to the Liberty Bell 45-yard line. Paz chased down the ball, picked it up and headed back the correct direction. He picked up a couple of blocks and it was off to the races. Officially, it was a 39-yard touchdown run, but Paz actually traveled closer to 70-75 yards on his way to paydirt. Kicker Kimball Smith hit his third PAT to make the score 21-0.

Kimball Smith had a good night kicking extra points.

At the Tonasket 20-yard line with :46 showing on the clock, Paz found Logan Mitchell in the end zone for another score. Smith was again perfect with the kick and a 28-0 lead.

After giving up a touchdown and two-point conversion late in the third quarter, Liberty Bell had the ball at the Mountain Lion 45-yard line. Junior Luke Sawyer, now in at quarterback position, tossed a short pass to now-tailback Greyden Paz, who galloped to the end zone for a 34-8 lead.

Early in the fourth quarter the Tigers injected a little razzle-dazzle, striking for a touchdown pass off of a double-reverse to make the score 34-14 at the 11:46 mark.  Their final score came with 8:33 to go, a 7-yard touchdown run to make the score 34-22.

Greyden Paz closed out the scoring with an 80-yard run to the house to make the final score 41-22.

Liberty Bell quarterbacks Paz and Sawyer were responsible for 8 of 16 completed passing attempts for 160 yards. The Mountain Lions rushed for 277 yards.

Liberty Bell is on the road again this week, traveling to Peshastin on Friday to take on the Cascade Kodiaks, kickoff at 7 p.m.
