Annual valleywide fundraiser continues through October
Give Methow organizers are gearing up for what they hope will be another record-setting year for the monthlong fundraiser. They’ve already broken one record.
More Methow Valley nonprofits than ever — 50 in all — will participate in the online campaign, which launches Thursday (Oct. 1) at www.givemethow.org and runs through October.
Give Methow first launched in 2015, raising $185,504 in its inaugural year. Donors keep raising the bar, giving a record $899,172 in 2024 and then exceeding that with $940,667 last year, on the occasion of Give Methow’s 10th anniversary.
Will the total hit seven figures next month, even with the broader economic pressures of higher inflation, higher interest rates and much higher fuel costs?
Nonprofits are feeling the financial pressures along with everyone else, and Thom Schroeder, director of marketing and communications for the Community Foundation of North Central Washington, said he believes community members will “double down and do what they can to make a difference here.”
“I am fully expecting to set another record this year,” he said.
Last year’s biggest recipients were the senior care center Jamie’s Place ($58,674), The Cove food bank ($58,476) and Methow Conservancy ($54,718.29) — although it’s not a competition. All participants have something to offer, whether it’s in the arts, recreation, education, the environment or community-building. Even Aero Methow, the valley’s nonprofit ambulance service, relies on donations to maintain its services.
Community members can track the totals for each nonprofit as they grow, on the Give Methow website. New this year, the “Give To All” campaign, which spreads the donations around to all participants, will get its own tally.
All proceeds go to the nonprofits, with the Community Foundation covering the credit card fees. And donors can chip in with as little as $10.
People familiar with how Give Methow operated last year will notice that little has changed for 2026. Funday Mondays are back, where anyone who donates on a Monday will enter a drawing for $500 that can be spent on the Give Methow campaign. In addition, raffles will be held at 20 events in late September and October for $100 giving cards that can also be spent on nonprofits taking part in the campaign.
Community members are encouraged to keep an eye out for the Give Methow booth at events throughout the valley.
