Wood chipping crews will be visiting Methow Valley neighborhoods throughout the valley in October.
The Okanogan Conservation District will host its “Fall Air Care” chipping events and green waste dumpster disposals, free of charge throughout the county, in October.
For the chipping events, gather up your woody materials (branches, tree limbs, bushes, etc.) and stack in 3-feet wide by 3-feet tall pile(s) at the end of your driveway by 8 a.m. on the first day of your community event. A chipper will come through the communities listed below and chip the woody materials. After materials are chipped, the chips will be left in place of the pile or transported to a central drop off area.

• Mazama, Oct. 12 and 13; sign up by Oct. 9.
• Lost River Airport Association, Oct. 12 and 13; sign up by Oct. 9.
• Edelweiss, Oct. 15 and 16; sign up by Oct. 12.
• Sun Mountain Ranch Club, Oct. 19 and 20; sign up by Oct. 16.
• Town of Winthrop, Oct. 26-28; sign up by Oct. 24.
• Town of Twisp, Oct. 26-28; sign up by Oct. 24.
The dumpster events are for vegetative disposal of natural plant-based materials that cannot be chipped. Materials such as leaves, pine needles, grass clippings, woodchips, and pinecones are allowed. No large woody debris, trash, or animal carcasses.

• Lost River Airport Association, Oct. 20-27, green waste only, fire hall on Littell Road.
• Cascade Condos, Oct. 22-29, green waste only, between 206 Cascadian Way and 208 Cascadian Place, next to compost bin.
