September 24, 2026 by Methow Valley News

From left, Greg Wright and Cindy Williams Gutiérrez of Confluence Poets and Liz Blackman of Root.ED Nature School unveiled a plaque bearing a poem by William Stafford on Sunday (Sept. 20) in Twisp’s Maves Park. The ceremony marked the conclusion of the two-day William Stafford Peace Festival. The poem, titled “Being a Person,” is the eighth in a series installed throughout the Methow Valley, from Washington Pass to Pateros. The plaque was donated by Confluence Poets and Root.ED Nature School, with support from the Friends of William Stafford and the Town of Twisp.
