Support Aero Methow
Dear Editor:
The Methow Valley is diffuse, spread out — and now more rapidly growing. It is also very isolated from major medical facilities and clinical expertise. From my perspective as a former attending at Harborview Medical Center attending in Seattle, I have written in the past that what matters most in taking care of seriously sick and injured patients is the time it takes to get to treatment. In the valley that means complete funding of the Aero Methow Rescue Service staff, the first responders who come immediately when called to treat people and save lives.
There really is no way around this. While I personally regret the rapid growth that has come to our beautiful and serene valley, it seems inevitable now. So, we should do all we can to prepare. The only way out of here for a very ill or traumatized person is Aero Methow. Even a brief delay in getting to the sick and injured, and getting them to higher levels of care when that is necessary, affects what happens to them. When the problem is a major one, time isn’t money, it is survival. Aero Methow requires funding for personnel, equipment, and training. Please support the Aero Methow levy proposal. It is in everyone’s best interest.

Backing Duresky
Dear Editor:
On Nov. 4, we have the opportunity to make a difference in the 4th District by exercising our right and civic duty to vote. We have two very different Congressional candidates to choose from to represent us in the House of Representatives in Congress. The Republican candidate is mainly supported by the Winred Super Pac under Donald Trump’s control. She has received just under a million dollars so far. The Democrat, John Duresky, has raised his monies from individual donors of just under $200,000. Campaign donations show us just who they will be beholden to.
We are so lucky to have a candidate like John Duresky to vote for, rather that the lesser of two evils. We need someone who will put the needs of working families first, not just the wealthy.
Here in the 4th District, that stretches from the Canadian Border to the Columbia River to the south, we are most interested in water resources, energy, affordable healthcare and housing, family farms/agriculture, immigration reform, cost of living, climate/change/wildfires, small business, and protecting public land (to name a few).
Please check out the John Duresky for Congress website. No matter what your political party affiliation, I think you will find that John Duresky is the best equipped to represent District 4. We need honesty and integrity in politics, rather than business as usual. Please join me in voting for John Duresky for our next representative. He’ll be there for us. It’s my understanding that he will be at the Okanogan County Fair. You can meet him at the Democratic booth. He is more than willing to answer any questions you may have.
I’ve heard it said that “bad politicians are voted into office by people who do not vote.” So, let’s not let that happen. Be sure to vote!
