Jazz Festival continues
The Methow Valley Jazz Festival continues through Sunday, Aug. 30, with performances every day at venues around the valley. TwispWorks’ Fourth Friday musical event on Aug. 28 is part of the festival, featuring the EntreMundos Quarteto from 7-9 p.m. The backup plan in case of smoke will be to move the show to the Methow Valley Community Center. ‘Outside The Box’
On Sept. 5, Methow Arts and the Methow Valley Chamber Music Festival. present “Outside The Box” at The Merc Playhouse in Twisp, featuring the Portland Cello Project and their big band with singer Saeeda Wright in a Stevie Wonder tribute. Winthrop Gallery exhibit
Three local artists will present an exhibit of new works at the Winthrop Gallery beginning Tuesday, Sept. 1, with an opening reception on Saturday, Sept. 5, from 5-7 p.m. The show will run through Nov. 19. ‘Crucible’ auditions
The Merc Playhouse will hold auditions for its Readers’ Theater production of “The Crucible” by Arthur Miller on Sept. 17 and 18 at the theater in Twisp, starting at 6 p.m. each day. The show, directed by Magnolia Brown, will be performed on Oct. 30 and Oct. 31, and Nov. 1. The sizeable cast will include roles for adults and children. William Stafford Peace Festival
The William Stafford Peace Festival, described as a community-wide celebration in commemoration of International Peace Day and in celebration of the 10th anniversary of William Stafford poetry readings in the Methow Valley, will be held in Twisp on Sept. 19-20. The event is presented by Root.ED Nature School along with the Confluence Poets.
