Dollar Watch Jamboree returns in October

August 20, 2026 by Methow Valley News

The Dollar Watch Cowboy Jamboree, a local entertainment tradition for a decade in the early 2000s, returns with a benefit show for Winthrop Kiwanis on Saturday, Oct. 10.

The event promises two hours of music, comedy, storytelling, poetry and camaraderie at the Winthrop Barn, according to Lauralee Northcott, a founder of the Horse Crazy Cowgirl Band. Doors open at 6 p.m. with music by local band Gobblers Knob before the show starts at 7 p.m. There will be a cash bar available.

Tickets are available online or at the door. General admission is $40; reserved admission is $60. Tickets will be available at the Kiwanis website, https://winthropkiwanis.com, or at www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/the-dollar-watch-cowboy-jamboree.

The Dollar Watch Cowboy Jamboree, a comedy and music show, produced two shows a year from 2003-2012. It was loosely based on the Prairie Home Companion format.

The Oct. 10 show is sponsored by Winthrop Kiwanis. All of the performers and technicians are donating their efforts.

Performers will include Northcott as announcer and host, along with Horse Crazy alums Emele Clothier and Nadine Van Hees; poet and comedian Dave McClure; and Gobblers Knob (Stan Wentzel, Randy Thordarson, Jerome Bowler, Mike Kennedy).

The Horse Crazy Cowgirl Band was a widely popular American western swing and folk music trio formed in 1999. They recorded and performed, with changes in membership, until 2017. The group released six albums with various iterations of the band; and won Group of the Year accolades from the Western Music Association (WMA) in 2015; WMA Harmony Trio of the Year in 2009 and 2011; and WMA Best Harmony Group in 2014. The group’s 2015 album, “All I Need,” was ranked at the top of the Western music listening charts that year.
