Guaranteed Fresh Fest
The fourth annual Guaranteed Fresh Fest will be at the John Doran Ranch, 20088 Highway 20 near Twisp, on Friday through Sunday (Aug. 21 – 23). The event offers music, art and food vendors, beer garden and youth activities. Tickets are $25 per day, $75 for three days. More info: guaranteedfreshfest.com.
Book release, reading
Local poets Merry Maxwell and Eileen “Sam” Owen have collaborated to publish a volume of poetry called “Embers,” a collection “steeped in the poets’ longstanding bonds with the devastation of wildfire,” according to a press release from publisher Methow Press. Methow Press and Trail’s End Bookstore will host a reading and book release party for “Embers” at the Winthrop library on Friday (Aug. 21) at 6 p.m. The event is free, and light refreshments will be provided.
Fourth Friday at TwispWorks
TwispWorks’ Fourth Friday musical event on Aug. 28 will feature a free performance by EntreMundos Quarteto, from 7 – 9 p.m. The backup plan in case of smoke will be to move the show to the Methow Valley Community Center.
‘Outside The Box’
On Sept. 5, Methow Arts and the Methow Valley Chamber Music Festival. present “Outside The Box” at the Pipestone Canyon Ranch, featuring the Portland Cello Project and their big band with singer Saeeda Wright in a Stevie Wonder tribute. Winthrop Gallery exhibit
Three local artists will present an exhibit of new works at the Winthrop Gallery beginning Tuesday, Sept. 1, with an opening reception on Saturday, Sept. 5, from 5 – 7 p.m. The show will run through Nov. 19. ‘Crucible’ auditions
The Merc Playhouse will hold auditions for its Readers’ Theater production of “The Crucible” by Arthur Miller on Sept. 17 and 18 at the theater in Twisp, starting at 6 p.m. each day.
