‘Pray for Snow’ party

Coldwell Banker coat drive
Coldwell Banker Cascade Real Estate/Winthrop has launched its Fall Coat drive for local kids, and will continue the drive through Dec. 9. Bring new and slightly worn, clean coats, vests and parkas to the Winthrop office at 503 State Highway 20. The clothing will be sorted, cleaned, and transferred to local nonprofit partners for distribution to needy kids.
“We evaluated numerous ways to meet the kids’ needs, and we kept coming back to organizing a Fall Coat Drive, in conjunction with Winthrop/Methow Valley nonprofits,” Coldwell Banker Cascade’s Director of People Development Kate Waag, said. “All of our Coldwell Banker Cascade offices from Chelan to Wenatchee to Goldendale are taking part.”
Remembrance ceremony
Methow At Home will host a remembrance ceremony on Thursday (Nov. 2) from 3:30-5 p.m. at the Twisp Town Park picnic shelter. Light a candle, place a photo or name or whatever feels right for you. Learn about ranked choice voting
Interested in hearing about ranked-choice voting (RCV) works? Lisa Ayrault, Executive Director of FairVote Washington, will talk about RCV at two events this weekend: Saturday (Nov. 4) at 2 p.m. in the community room at the Winthrop library; and Sunday (Nov. 5) at 10 a.m. during the Methow Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship meeting in the Methow Valley Community Center. Everyone is welcome. RCV, in which voters have the option to rank candidates in order of preference, is being used in jurisdictions across the country.

The Methow Conservancy’s next First Tuesday program (Nov. 7) will be a Zoom-based presentation on “The Bats of Washington State,” with Niki Desautels of Bats Northwest. Creative Aging volunteer training
Methow At Home offers a free course on “Methow Creative Aging Volunteer Training” On Saturday, Nov. 11, from 9 a.m.-noon at the Winthrop library, led by local artist Janet Fagan. Participants will learn to lead four art activities while employing methods to promote a joyful experience for care partners and people living with dementia or other challenges. The Methow Creative Aging volunteer trainings will lead to opportunities to bring hands-on arts expression into Jamie’s Place adult residence, at Memory Care Café events, and into individual homes for people living with dementia and their care partners. Christmas Bazaar in Twisp
The annual Christmas Bazaar in Twisp will be held on Nov. 18 and Dec. 2, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. each day, at the Methow Valley Community Center. The free event showcases more than 60 artists and craftspersons, offering high-quality original art, photography, silver jewelry, beaded earrings, pottery, clothing, quilts, herbal products, glass, handmade soap, wooden items, handmade bags, ornaments, cards, and more. The American Legion Auxiliary in the kitchen will provide lunch and treats. Although tables are filling fast there is still time to apply. Veterans Day in Brewster
A Veterans Day event will be held at the Brewster Legion on Saturday, Nov. 11, including a member drive spaghetti dinner from 3-7 p.m. At noon there will be a ceremony to burn old American flags. The dinner is free for members whose dues are paid up. For information, email gregwagg@yahoo.com.

Methow At Home is offering a free four-part series, “Caring for People Living With Dementia,” on Nov. 21, Nov. 28, Dec. 5 and Dec. 12 at the Twisp Valley Grange, from 2-4 p.m. each day. Learn more about this disease process and how it relates to communicating, connecting and serving someone living with the disease. Memory Care Café
Methow At Home offers a free presentation, “Methow Creative Aging Memory Care Café,” at Confluence: Art in Twisp on Tuesday, Nov. 28, from 2-4 p.m., led by local artist Janet Fagan. This is a program for adults living with dementia and their care partners that offers an opportunity for social and expressive engagement in a setting that is designed to promote confidence and inspire joy in participants. The Cafe hosts hands-on artmaking along with music and art discussions that meet all involved where they are with love and acceptance in a sensory sensitive environment.
