The Methow Valley Ranger district said it will be implementing prescribed burns of pile units on the Loup Loup Summit, Lost Driveway and Libby Creek drainage all this week and into the weekend depending on conditions.
“Currently we have successfully completed just over 1,000 acres of piles on the landscape and would like to continue with that success,” the U.S. Forest Service said in a press release. “We still have around 600 acres on the Loup, 1,000 acres up Libby Creek and 70 acres in the Lost Driveway units to complete.”
The Forest Service works closely with the state to limit the amount of smoke on poor dispersion days, the release said. “However, smoke will likely impact the Methow Valley during and after ignitions,” the release said.
