The 51st annual Labor Day Weekend Rodeo put on by the Methow Valley Horsemen is set to go on Saturday and Sunday at the Twin Lakes Rodeo Grounds near Winthrop.
Rodeo action starts at 1 p.m. and runs until about 4 p.m. each day.
This year’s event will feature ranch saddle bronc, bull riding and barrel racing, as well as mutton busting and stick horse races for the kids.
With the extended closure of the North Cascades Highway, rodeo spokesman Dennis Gardner is hoping for locals to come out and enjoy the action.
“We don’t know quite what to expect with the highway being closed,” Gardner said, “but it will be a good chance for local people to come out and support rodeo this Labor Day weekend.”
Daily admission is $15 for adults, youth 7-12 years $5, children 6 and under are free.
The Twin Lakes Rodeo Grounds are located on Moccasin Lake Ranch property off of Twin Lakes Road near the intersection with Patterson Lake Road, about 1.5 miles from the Highway 20-Twin Lakes Road turn-off south of Winthrop.
