3-on-3 tournament
Registration is open for the second annual Mountain Lion 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament, set for Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 5-6, at the Methow Valley School District. All games will be indoors at Liberty Bell High School and Methow Valley Elementary School. All teams are considered coed with a maximum of four players for a team roster.
Registration is $60 per team and includes a souvenir T-shirt. Teams can drop cash or check at the Methow Valley school district office, or send care of organizer Liam Daily, P.O. Box 714, Winthrop, WA 98862; or visit www.methow.org.
There is no admission charge, but donations will be accepted. Proceeds will go to support both the boys’ and girls’ high school basketball programs.
Bird-watching outing
Methow At Home hosts a free bird-watching event with Craig Olson on Sunday, Aug. 6, on Sun Mountain’s Beaver Pond Trail. Start from the Chickadee Trailhead at 6:30 a.m. To carpool, meet at the Methow Valley Citizens Center at 6:05 a.m. or at the Winthrop Town Trailhead at 6:10 a.m. Bring your binoculars and anything you might need to be comfortable. Wildlife tracking course
On Sept. 23-24, join the Methow Conservancy for a two-day wildlife tracking course with expert tracker, naturalist and educator David Moskowitz. Space is limited. Sign up as soon as possible via the methowconservancy.org events page. Registration is $325; scholarships available.
