The Killer Whales will be back in their home pool on Saturday for the Methow Invitational.

The Methow Valley Killer Whales swim team migrated south to Brewster on Tuesday, July 11, and came away with a three-way sweep of the evening meet, winning the girls’ meet 201-153, the boys’ meet 173-60 and outpointing the home team by a total score of 374-213.

In a familiar theme so far this summer, the Methow team dominated the relays, winning 13 of the 16 races, while scoring 33 victories in the individual races.

The Killer Whales saw 11 different swimmers take 1st-place honors in races at the Omak Pentathlon last Saturday (July 15). Maverick Sinclair led the way with three race victories, and Olive Frady and Soren Stevie each added two of their own as the Methow team took 2nd place overall with 393.5 points behind meet champion Omak’s 451 points. Okanogan took 3rd and Brewster was 4th. Single-race winners included Clara Ramsay-George, Chicane Ashford, Eliza Dubowy, Soren Strauss, Maya Gehring, Lena Frady, Ethan Miller and Alice Esimol.

There are three meets left on the schedule for the local swimmers. This coming Saturday (July 22) the Methow Invitational gets underway at 9 a.m. at the Wagner Memorial Pool in Twisp and will run into the afternoon.  Teams from Brewster, Okanogan and Omak are expected to compete. Next Tuesday (July 25), the Killer Whales head for Omak, and follow that with the season-ending league championships at Okanogan on Saturday, July 29.
