Susan “Sue” Arline DePriest, 76, of Pateros, Washington, died June 15, 2023.
She was born July 7, 1946, in Longview, Washington, to Leo and Katherine (Olson) Phillips.
Sue graduated from R.A. Long High School in 1964. She married Gale C. DePriest on Nov. 30, 1968, in Longview before moving to Seattle, Pasco, and the Renton/Maple Valley area. She worked as secretary for the Dean of social work at the University of Washington, secretary for the Pasco School District in the Administrative Office, and then head secretary at Briarwood Elementary School in the Issaquah School District for 17 years, retiring in 1997 before settling at Alta Lake in Pateros.
Sue was a wonderful homemaker for her family and was truly loved by her husband of 54 years. She was also deeply loved by her children, grandchildren, her sister, brother, and their families, and dearly loved by the many friends and neighbors she made throughout her lifetime.
Sue took every opportunity to spend time with family and friends. She made many memories on trips with friends, and really enjoyed her grandchildren. She loved being a part of the Methow Valley and local communities where she volunteered with different groups like Friends of Alta Lake and making baby blankets to donate to the Brewster Hospital. She enjoyed going to church and living the lake/cabin life.
She is survived by her husband, Gale DePriest at home; son Terry and wife Lisa DePriest of Renton; Debbie and husband Mark Crisler of Sammamish; Gary and wife May DePriest of Orange, California; sister Linda Elfving and brother Steven Phillips; and five grandchildren Nicolaas DePriest, Dillon DePriest, Haley DePriest, Morgan Crisler, and Nolan Crisler.
