Sports Briefs: Cutthroat Lake Hike, Biking safety course

Cutthroat Lake Hike

Methow At Home hosts a hike to Cutthroat Lake with former ranger Eric Burr on Saturday, July 1, starting from the Mazama Store at 9 a.m. and carpooling to the trailhead. Bring a lunch, water, mosquito protection and anything you need to be comfortable for this 4-mile hike. Register at methowathome.org.

Biking safety course

Methow At Home offers a free bicycle safety course with Rita Jensen and David Clement at Mack Lloyd Park in Winthrop on Sunday, July 9, from 9-10:30 a.m. Learn about skills, equipment and rules of the road. Register at methowathome.org.

Two-wheeler events

The Methow Valley is host to an array of events to entertain, challenge and educate cyclists. Here’s what’s coming up soon.

• June 23-25: Winthrop Gravel Tour Lite is presented by Cascade Bicycle Club and offers three scenic, one-day gravel rides throughout the Methow Valley. Choose from short and long routes each day (32-60 miles/3,000-5,300 feet of climbing) and enjoy a bagged lunch on route. $200. Visit cascade.org/winthrop-gravel-tour-lite for more information.

• June 24-25: Women’s Mountain Bike Skills Camp offered by Radical Roots Mountain Bike Instruction and sponsored by Methow Cycle & Sport. The camp will consist of fun, safe and progressive skills and drills practice in the morning and on-trail skills sessions at Sun Mountain in the afternoon. Lunches included.
