Gary Welch, a longtime resident of the Twisp area, passed away on April 1 at the age of 34. Gary’s life was full of ups and downs, but he will be remembered by those who knew him as a person with a big heart and a quick wit.
Gary was born on Oct. 7, 1988, and was adopted by Ed and Vicky Welch. He grew up on Sunny Pine Farm, where he enjoyed the beauty of the Methow Valley and formed deep bonds with his adoptive family.
Throughout his life, Gary faced many challenges, including struggles with addiction and other difficulties. Although he was not always able to stay on the right path, he never lost his sense of humor or his generous spirit. Gary fought a few demons in life as we all have. Won some, lost some, always learning, never gave up. Knocked down; he got up again and again! He was full of courage and determination and the inspiration for both supplied on request day or night by a loving father and parent whose devotion to the Bond created between the two of them was never ending. Gary was the comeback kid and any parent would be proud of his persistence and tenacity to get it right. Gary and Ed’s love bond surpassed old borders and boundaries, to keep building on a loving relationship any parent and son would cherish! As a friend I was truly humbled to witness that bond over many years. I felt extremely privileged and won’t forget it! Thank you, Forever Gary, from all of us who know and love you!
His passing has left a hole in the hearts of those who knew him, including his adoptive family, friends, and loved ones.
A celebration of Gary’s life will be held at a place and time to be announced. All will be welcome to come and pay their respects for Gary.
