Updates from the Noxious Weed Office
Due to limited personnel and an overwhelming amount of work that needs to be accomplished this field season, the Okanogan County Noxious Weed Office has reduced the number of hours that the office is open to the public. Field season office hours are now Monday through Wednesday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. This will allow Thursdays and Fridays to be dedicated field days and allow for adequate follow up with landowner concerns. Noxious Weed Office employees will still be checking and following up on emails and telephone messages on the days that the office is closed. In advance we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause the landowners of Okanogan County. If you should have any questions please give us a call at (509) 422-7165 or send us an email at noxiousweeds@co.okanogan.wa.us.

Town of Twisp – Housing Action Plan Public Workshop – 06/26/23 @ 6PM
The Town of Twisp will host a public workshop on the status of Twisp’s Housing Action Plan (HAP) on Monday, 26 June, at 6 p.m. at the Civic Building.
Twisp’s HAP consulting firm has collected data and conducted information-gathering sessions with local stakeholders including nonprofits, employers, architects, builders, contractors, and others with a stake in housing solutions for the valley. The firm presented the findings online with the Winthrop Town Council and with the Twisp Town Council, separately, to review the firm’s findings to date for each community. Work on the plans began in September of 2022 under a combined grant for the two towns from the Washington State Department of Commerce.
Twisp’s Town Council are eager to share the findings of the planning process with the community and to solicit input on the solutions that are the best fit for Twisp. A Housing Action Plan survey has posted online, and a direct mail postcard invite will arrive in all residential mailboxes in the Twisp zip code the week of 5 June to better understand how people in Twisp and the broader Methow Valley community are meeting their housing needs and what types of housing could best meet their needs in the future.
The workshop is open to anyone in the valley. In-person attendance is recommended because the meeting format is interactive through circulation to topic-oriented tables; however, remote attendance will be an option and posted on the Town’s website in advance of the meeting. For more information, email Randy Kilmer, clerktreasurer@townoftwisp.com.
