The 51st annual Methow Valley Memorial Day Rodeo, presented by the Methow Valley Horsemen, entertained with the usual challenges for competitors and thrills for spectators. Events over the two days at the rodeo grounds off of Twin Lakes Road included bronc and bull riding, barrel racing, pole bending, cow riding, mutton bustin’ and stick horse racing (for the youngest buckaroos in the arena). Two equestrian drill teams added to the attractions, and Rodeo Queen Hailey Bolyard reigned over the proceedings (on horseback, of course). The rodeo returns for its fall version on Labor Day weekend, Sept. 2-3.
