The Okanogan County Auditor’s Elections Department will open a special three-day filing period on June 5-7, from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. each day, for all local offices for which no one filed for during the regular filing period that ended May 19.
Two positions among the Methow Valley elective offices on the November general election ballot had no filings: Winthrop Town Council members Seth Miles (Position 4) and Bill McAdow (Position 5), both incumbents, did not file for re-election, and no one filed to run for either of those positions.
About 30 other openings among various Okanogan County councils, boards and commissions had no filers.
People interested in filing can complete the “Declaration of Candidacy” in a number of ways:
• Complete the paper Declaration of Candidacy form and pay the filing fee (if applicable) at the Auditor’s Office in Okanogan.
• Come into the Auditor’s Office and complete the Declaration of Candidacy on a kiosk and pay the filing fee (if applicable).
• Complete the Declaration of Candidacy form online from their home computer at okanogancounty.org/offices/auditor/elections/candidate_information.php, and pay the filing fee (if applicable) online or in the Auditor’s Office.
Filing fees must be received by 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7.
