The Trashion Show, where recycling meets the runway, returns to the Methow Valley Community Center on Saturday (June 3) after a three-year hiatus because of COVID.
The event, presented by The Confluence: Art it Twisp, will feature amazingly creative couture crafted from recyclable materials, strutted by local models wearing locally designed creations.
The theme is “Flower Power.” Designers were encouraged to adapt that theme however they wished — mod, whimsical, vintage, literal — and to use recycled or bona fide trash materials to make up 90% of the fashion items they created.
The show opens for a VIP reception at 5 p.m., followed by a general admission opening at 6 p.m. The design showcase itself begins at 7 p.m.
The event is emceed by former executive director of The Merc Playhouse Missy Smith. Pre-show entertainment includes a slideshow of previous Trashion Shows, featuring entries and winners from the past decade of recycled fashion.
Blue Star Coffee Roasters is the headline sponsor of the event.
General admission ticket prices $20. Ages 21 and over only. General admission tickets are available online at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/6002992. Visit www.confluencegallery.org/events/trashion-show for more information.
