Bird-watching walk
Methow At Home offers a free bird-watching session with Craig Olson on Sunday (May 21), starting from the Chickadee Trailhead off Patterson Lake Road at 8 a.m. Bring your binoculars and anything you need to be comfortable on a four mile walk. Register at methowathome.org.
Get ready for the rodeo
The Methow Valley Rodeo starts its next half-century when the 51st annual event takes place on Memorial Weekend, May 27-28, at the rodeo grounds off of Twin Lakes Road. Rizeor Lake hike
Methow At Home offers a free hike around Rizeor Lake on Friday, May 26, starting from the Gunn Ranch Road parking area at 10 a.m. ring a lunch for a picnic and something to sit on if you like. Register at methowathome.org.
Booster Club dinner and auction
The Liberty Bell Booster Club will host a benefit dinner/auction on Friday, June 2, at the Bear Creek Golf Course. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner starts at 6 p.m. with a live auction to follow. During dinner, graduating seniors will be recognized and awards handed out. Tickets are $20 per plate, limited supply. All proceeds go toward the Booster Club and Liberty Bell activities. Kids’ Fishing Day
Kids’ Fishing Day, at which kids can fish for free at the Winthrop Fish Hatchery, will be on Saturday, June 10, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Activity booths and informational displays will be scattered around the site. Check out live macroinvertebrates, have a look at how humans imitate beavers, practice your water conservation skills, play with a stream model, and more. Two-wheeler events
The Methow Valley is host to an array of events to entertain, challenge and educate cyclists. Here’s what’s coming up soon.
• June 2-3: Otso Bike Demos, presented by Otso Cycles and sponsored by Methow Cycle & Sport. Test ride some different styles of bikes. Choose from gravel, bike-packing, mountain bike and fat bike. • June 3: Goat Gravel Grinder, presented by Cascade Endurance. An all-welcoming 35-mile, approximately 4,500-feet-gain gravel race on some fantastic Northwest terrain with aid stations along the way and a post-race par-tay. For more details, visit https://www.cascadeendurance.com.

Winthrop Trailhead parkrun
The Winthrop Trail parkrun — a free, weekly, timed 5-kilometer run/jog/walk — takes place at 9 a.m. on Saturdays starting from the Methow Trails parking on Horizon Flat Road.
