Chipping and vegetation drive
The Okanogan Conservation District, Clean Air Methow, Resilient Methow, Town of Twisp, Fire Adapted Methow Valley, and Okanogan Solid Waste are sponsoring a free chipping and vegetation drive for all valley residents on Wednesday (May 3) and Friday (May 5) from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. each day at the Twisp Transfer Station. Allowed are all natural vegetation; branches and woody debris up to 4 inches in diameter and 3 feet in length; pine needles and cones, weeds, leaves and grass clippings, and plant trimmings. Swing dance lessons
Methow At Home hosts a four-session series of swing dance lessons, with Jeff and Tracie Powney, starting Friday (May 5), and continuing on May 12, 19 and 26. The lessons will be at the Twisp Valley Grange from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Cost for members is $20 for all the classes; $40 for nonmembers. Register at methowathome.org.
Bookkeeping class

Women in business
TwispWorks sponsors a social event for women business owners, entrepreneurs, and any women interested in starting a business on Sunday (May 7), from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Meza restaurant in Winthrop. There will be a panel presentation about hiring, human resources, and employer best practices, after which there will be additional time for questions and further networking. Ecology scholarships
Applications are being sought for the Okanogan County Ecology Scholarship (OCES) program. The scholarship seeks to create a future pipeline for environmentally conscious youth. Applicants may be high school or college students, or youth not currently enrolled in school but involved in an activity in support of the environment.

Healing and spirit talk
Peruvian healer Enzo M. Trosso Toranzo will give a spirit talk on curing diseases through natural herbs and spiritual awareness on Tuesday, May 9, at Wellspring, Room 7 in the Methow Valley Community Center in Twisp, starting at 6 p.m. Suggested donation is $10. At Twisp library
On Wednesday, May 10, 6 p.m., the library presents “From My Travel Journals,” similar to our “My Story” program except that these stories will be all travel-related. Refreshments provided by the Twisp Library Friends.
‘Cultural Futures’ information
Inspire Washington will host a free “Cultural Futures” event on Thursday, May 11, from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Winthrop library.
According to its website, Inspire Washington “aims to build a broad and powerful statewide coalition to champion advocacy and resource development for Washington’s cultural sector, with a mission of “increasing access to science, heritage, and arts programming through advocacy, resource development, education, and coalition building.”
At the Winthrop event, Inspire Washington representatives will talk about funding sources and advocacy opportunities for local cultural programs. There will be a review of the recent Legislative session, and new funding programs and grant possibilities.

“Sound Bath and Meditation for Moms” will be offered by Tania Gonzalez Ortega on Sunday, May 14, from 7-8 p.m. at Head and Heart in Winthrop. Classroom in Bloom’s Spring Plant Sale will be on Thursday, May 18, from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. on the Methow Valley School District campus.
