April Tools Sale
The Methow Valley Community Center in Twisp is hosting its fourth annual April Tools Sale on Saturday (April 1), from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., in the center’s parking lot. It’s not just for tools, but also furniture, equipment, collectibles and anything that is usable (but no junk). Sellers and vendors can book a table or more. Or, if you’d like to support the Community Center by donating useful items, bring them to the gym on Friday (March 31), between noon-5 p.m. Call (509) 997-2926 to make arrangements or get more information.
Makers, artists invited
“Make It Happen,” a social gathering for Methow Valley makers, manufacturers and artists, will be hosted at TwispWorks on Thursday (March 30), from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the YourSpace Meeting Room.
People with an existing or potential business are invited to attend. Information and updates on Methow Made, Methow Valley Goods, and the Methow Investment Network will be presented by TwispWorks staff, and there will be a short presentation by a local manufacturer who has worked with the Methow Investment Network to expand their business. School retirees’ meeting
The Okanogan County School Retirees’ Association will hold a general meeting at 10 a.m. on Friday (March 31), at the Community Presbyterian Church of Omak, 9 Birch St. S. Refreshments at 9:45 a.m. The program will include Keegan McCormick of the state Department of Natural Resources, who will talk about wildfire prevention. For more information, call (509) 422-3532.
Studded tires off
Spring is here, and with it the deadline to remove studded tires before thr end of day on Friday (March 31), according to the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), in order to avoid a potential fine of $137. Studded tires are legal in Washington from Nov. 1 to March 31.
Bear dogs presentation
The Methow Conservancy’s First Tuesday (April 4) presentation will be “Karelian Bear Dogs,” at 7 p.m. at Winthrop Barn. Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife bear and cougar specialist Rich Beausoleil will talk about how Karelian Bear Dogs help manage human-carnivore conflicts, and why partnerships with local communities are essential to protect carnivores. Family Constellations
Facilitator Tania Gonzalez Ortega offers a free demonstration of how Family Constellations work to bring healing and wholeness within an individual by addressing disruptions within a family tree or ancestral lineage usually caused by trauma, on Saturday (April 1), at the Methow Valley Wellness Center, 105 Norfolk Road, Winthrop, from 4-6 p.m. For information, email newearthconsciousness@gmail.com.
Easter week services
The Methow Valley United Methodist Church invites the community to observe Holy Week and celebrate Easter. Palm Sunday worship with procession of palms: Sunday, April 2, at 10 a.m. Maundy Thursday service of Tenebrae (descending darkness) with the telling of the passion of Christ: Thursday, April 6, 7 p.m. Those who wish to receive communion before the service are invited to come at 6:30 p.m. Easter Sunday celebration: Sunday, April 7, at 10 a.m. For information, email mvumc@methownet.com.

Easter Egg Hunt
Winthrop Kiwanis again hosts an Easter Egg Hunt and barbeque on Saturday, April 8, at Pearrygin Lake State Park. The free event begins with the hunt for all ages of kids starting at noon, followed by a barbecue lunch courtesy of BS Bar-B-Que, the Twisp Valley Grange, Ulrich’s Pharmacy and the Kiwanis.
Plant and tree sale
