Sports Briefs: Spokane Gulch hike, Fly Fishers meet, Play volleyball

Spokane Gulch hike

Methow At Home hosts a free hike up Spokane Gulch with former ranger Eric Burr on Saturday, March 25, starting from the Mazama Store at 9:30 a.m. Prepare to spend half the day on a fairly steep hike. Wear good shoes, bring your water bottle and snacks. Register at methowathome.org.

Fly Fishers meet

The next meeting of the Methow Valley Fly Fishers Club will be at Bear Creek Golf Course on Tuesday, March 21, in the upstairs conference room, with a club social starting at 6:15 p.m. The social will be followed by club business, Tips & Tactics, and a presentation by Dr. Jack Stanford, Professor Emeritus at the Flathead Lake Biological Station of the University of Montana, on “Ecological Attributes of the Last Great Salmon Rivers: research on the large rivers of the Russian Far East, Alaska, British Columbia and Washington.” Visitors are welcome. Play volleyball

Open gym volleyball will be offered on Saturdays at 5 p.m., and Sundays at 3 p.m., in the Liberty Bell High School gym for levels B-BB. There is no charge. Call (509) 429-0056 for information about scheduling.

Winthrop Trailhead parkrun

The Winthrop Trail parkrun — a free, weekly, timed 5-kilometer run/jog/walk — takes place at 9 a.m. on Saturdays starting from the Methow Trails parking on Horizon Flat Road. Open to all ages and all abilities. Leashed dogs welcome. Register at http://parkrun.us/register and bring along your personal barcode.
