Point In Time Count
Room One is leading the annual Point in Time Count for the Methow Valley during the week of Jan. 23-27. The count takes place across the country, identifying the number of people who are experiencing homelessness. Call Room One at (509) 997-2050 if you or someone you know is couch surfing, doubled up, living in a disconnected RV or living outside.
Housing Solutions Network updates
The Methow Valley Housing Solutions Network, made up of a group of organizations concerned with local housing challenges, will hold a community meeting on Feb. 7 at the Twisp Valley Grange to provide progress updates.
The Housing Solutions Network formed in the fall of 2020, when a group of local nonprofit leaders, initially led by the Methow Housing Trust, came together to research and learn from other communities that have faced similar challenges, seeking solutions that could work in the Methow Valley, according to Housing Trust news release. Today the network represents 15 entities and projects.
At the Feb. 7 meeting, from 5-6 p.m. each member of the network will give a brief overview of their project and the housing need they are targeting. From 6-7 p.m., each network member will have a separate table where attendees can ask questions.

Builders, architects invited
The inaugural meeting of Methow Valley Building Science, an informal gathering of local builders, architects and designers, is set for Thursday (Jan. 26), at 5:30 p.m. at Methow Valley Lumber.
Discussion will focus on energy-efficient building in the valley. Potential topics for discussion may include: best Methow Valley practices for energy-efficient building; how to build well and affordably; what new and interesting materials and systems are out there; and Washington State Energy Code requirements.

Parent to Parent event

Amelia Bondi of Winthrop has been named to the Dean’s List at the University of New Hampshire for the fall 2022 semester. She is majoring in marine, estuarine and freshwater biology.
Whodunnits for sale
The Twisp library will host a mystery book sale at the Methow Valley Community Center on Friday, Feb. 3, from 4-7 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the library. There will be mystery prizes and a game about literary detectives. If you have mysteries to donate, drop them off at the library. For information, call (509) 449-2594.
Sunny M Ranch info sessions
The Methow Conservancy has scheduled two public information sessions to explain the details of its plan to purchase 1,200 acres of the Sunny M Ranch from the Haub family, and the fundraising effort related to the purchase. There will be a question-and-answer session after each presentation. The in-person meetings are:
• Friday, Feb. 10, from 6-8 p.m. at the Twisp Valley Grange, with live music by The Apostles, light snacks and a no-host bar.
• Sunday, Feb. 12, from 6-8 p.m. at the Winthrop Barn, with light snacks.
A Zoom session will also be scheduled.

Interpretive Center open
A reminder that the Methow Valley Interpretive Center in Twisp is open on Saturdays through the winter, from noon-4 p.m. A docent will be on hand to teach twining; materials will be provided. For information, visit https://www.methowvalleyinterpretivecenter.com.
Family storytime
The Winthrop library hosts a weekly storytime session with stories, songs and rhymes on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. Storytime is a place for parents and caregivers to join in the fun and interact with their children This storytime is aimed at preschool-aged children, but all are welcome.
