The Methow Valley Housing Solutions Network, made up of a group of organizations concerned with local housing challenges, will hold a community meeting on Feb. 7 at the Twisp Valley Grange to provide progress updates.
The Housing Solutions Network formed in the fall of 2020, when a group of local nonprofit leaders, initially led by the Methow Housing Trust, came together to research and learn from other communities that have faced similar challenges, seeking solutions that could work in the Methow Valley, according to Housing Trust news release.
In early 2021, the group formalized into the Housing Solutions Network, with the core team made up of leaders from The Methow Housing Trust, Room One, Methow Conservancy, TwispWorks and Methow Valley Citizens Council. “Throughout 2021 and into late 2022, this group engaged interested and skilled members of the public, developing a set of 26 possible solutions, and focusing the community conversation,” according to the news release.
In the fall of 2022, leaders representing any organization actively working on a housing project were also invited to be a part of the network. Today the network represents 15 entities and projects.
The group has now met twice. “The progress and optimism is contagious and encouraging. We’d like to share this optimism, encouragement, and notes on progress with you, our community,” according to the news release.
At the Feb. 7 meeting, from 5-6 p.m. each member of the network will give a brief overview of their project and the housing need they are targeting. From 6-7 p.m., each network member will have a separate table where attendees can ask questions.
Members of the Network include the Methow Housing Trust, the Housing Authority of Okanogan County; the Methow Conservancy; Room One; Jamie’s Place; We Methow; Okanogan Coalition for Health Improvement; Town of Winthrop; Konrad planned development; Community care-giver housing; TwispWorks/Methow Investment Network; and Methow At Home.
