Letters to the Editor: December 21, 2022

December 21, 2022 by Methow Valley News

Thanks for vote analysis

Dear Editor:

Your compilation of “Methow voters’ choices” in the last election was surprising and heartening. For years, many of us have felt the county election system leaves us with little ability to affect important election results.

For county commissioners, we have a large voice in the primary to select our district’s candidates. But the final election is countywide. The rest of Okanogan County overwhelms our votes. Your analysis shows that we can (and did!) make a difference in this election. The same was true for the county sheriff election. You also showed that Methow residents are willing to turn out to vote in large numbers.

Thank you for providing this important information. I hope we all remember this in 2024 and continue our record of a great turnout of responsible citizens.
