Auditions for local parts next week
The local performing arts scene’s recovery from the COVID doldrums continues with the return, after a three-year absence, of the Missoula Children’s Theatre to the Methow Valley.
Auditions are next week for local kids’ parts in the traveling theater’s production of “The Little Mermaid,” which will presented on Saturday, Nov. 12, at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. in the Methow Valley Elementary School’s Cub Gym.
The auditions will be from 3:40 p.m.-5:40 p.m. on Monday (Nov. 7), also at the Cub Gym, and are open to all students in grades 1-12. Actors must commit to all rehearsals and performances. Rehearsal schedules depend on roles. No preparation is needed. Not all students will be cast in parts.
There is a $25 residency fee for those cast in the production. Scholarships are available, provided by Winthrop Kiwanis.
The cast will include more than 50 local students who will audition, rehearse and perform with two Missoula Children’s Theatre actor/directors. The Children’s Theatre touring productions are complete with costumes, scenery, props and makeup.
Tickets are $8 at the door for adults; $3 for students 18 and younger; free for kids under age 5. Free tickets are available to clients of The Cove and Room One, at those locations.
