Craig R. Weaver

October 26, 2022 by Methow Valley News

Craig R. Weaver

Our beloved and brilliant cellist has passed away; my beloved husband Craig R. Weaver, long-time resident of Winthrop and Twisp, co-founder of the Methow Valley Chamber Music Festival and retired Seattle Symphony who enjoyed a career which spanned over 60 years. Aug. 8, 1951-Oct. 14, 2022, age 71. Words cannot express the heartbreak; may his freedom be the gift. Craig is survived by his wife, violinist Tara Kaiyala Weaver, daughters Claire and Rebekka, son Conner, sisters Pam and Paula, stepson Tyson Simmons and wife Alexis, extended family, many colleagues friends. Any planned services to be announced.

“Because I could not stop for Death –
He kindly stopped for me –
The Carriage held but just Ourselves –
And Immortality.
We slowly drove – He knew no haste
And I had put away
My labor and my leisure too,
For His Civility –
We passed the School, where Children strove
At Recess – in the Ring –
We passed the Fields of Gazing Grain –
We passed the Setting Sun –
Or rather – He passed Us –
The Dews drew quivering and Chill –
For only Gossamer, my Gown –
My Tippet – only Tulle –”
We paused before a House that seemed
A Swelling of the Ground –
The Roof was scarcely visible –
The Cornice – in the Ground –”
Since then – ‘tis Centuries – and yet
Feels shorter than the Day
I first surmised the Horses’ Heads
Were toward Eternity.”
