On Friday, Aug. 19, 2022, Roberta Rice-Lechner passed away at the age of 84. She was born Roberta Mae Scott, to parents Robert Alexander Scott (Rabbit) and Blanche Mae Scott (Missy). She was known affectionately as “Crea,” short for creature.
She was raised in Wallace and Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. As a teen, she moved to Seattle, where her father was an optician and spent summers at their cabin in Mukilteo, Washington. Her older sister Heather Eggleston was always close by her side as a fun-loving duo!
Crea worked as an assistant in a surgical clinic, met and married her first husband Jim Rice, a surgeon. After losing Jim to cancer, she married Robert Lechner, a true character and lead engineer at Boeing. Crea joined Bob in the beautiful Methow Valley in the 1990s. They shared a love of the valley and had an intense passion for all living things. They traveled the world together, enjoyed gardening, Elvis, golf, tennis, reading, and Crea had a special passion for cats!
She is preceded in passing by her parents, both loving husbands, and her sister. She is survived by her three nieces, Janet Reid, Cynthia Larkin and Sarah Prell.
In lieu of giving flowers, the family requests donations to the The Confluence: Art in Twisp, or the Methow Arts Alliance.
