People ages 12 and older can get a free COVID booster vaccine at a special event at the Winthrop Barn on Friday (Oct. 14) from noon to 4 p.m.
Health care providers will be giving the Pfizer bivalent vaccine for individuals age 12 and above, and the Moderna bivalent vaccine for those age 18 and above. The bivalent vaccine protects against the original COVID virus and the Omicron variants currently circulating widely that have proven more transmissible and able to evade previous immunity.
Anyone who had the primary vaccine series at least two months ago (two Pfizer or Moderna vaccines or one Johnson & Johnson vaccine) is eligible for the bivalent booster.
No appointment is needed.
