Sports Briefs: King does it again, Comment on Pacific NW Scenic Trail

October 5, 2022 by Methow Valley News

King does it again

Brad King hit for his third hole in one of the 2022 golfing season at Bear Creek Golf Course on Sept. 28. Playing an afternoon warmup round prior to the final Men’s Club event of the year, King pulled out a pitching wedge on the 90-yard, par 3 No. 2 hole and launched a high, arching shot directly over the flagstick. The ball dug into the putting surface about 4 feet past the hole, then backed up straight into the center of the cup. The “ace” was the fourth of King’s golfing history.

Comment on Pacific NW Scenic Trail

The U.S. Forest Service is inviting public comment on the 1,200-mile Pacific Northwest National Scenic Trail, one of the nation’s newest scenic trails.

The trail goes from the Continental Divide in Montana through Idaho to the Pacific Ocean in Washington. Most of the route is in place on existing roads or trails and is available for public use. In Okanogan County, the trail traverses the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest and the Colville Reservation.

The 30-day scoping comment period, on a comprehensive plan and long-term management for the trail, runs through Oct. 28. The purpose of scoping is for the Forest Service to identify important issues and determine the extent of analysis necessary for an informed decision.

Information on the project is at www.fs.usda.gov/project/?project=52259. People can also contact project lead Becky Blanchard at becky.blanchard@usda.gov or (503) 808‑2449.
