Vintage Wheels Show rolls through Winthrop again

September 14, 2022 by Methow Valley News

File photos by Natalie Johnson The Winthrop Vintage Wheels Show returns with its traditional format this weekend. Entrants will parked along a closed portion of Riverside Avenue for viewing and voting for awards.

The Winthrop Vintage Wheels Show, featuring classic and antique cars, trucks, buses, motorcycles and possibly other wheeled vehicles, returns for the 47th time on Saturday (Sept. 17).

The colorful parade of entrants starts at 11 a.m. from the Winthrop Inn staging area on Highway 20, then proceeds through downtown on Riverside Avenue. More than 100 entrants are expected to be on display this year.

Unlike last year, when the parade turned around at the Winthrop Barn and returned to the motel because of COVID concerns, this year the entrants will again be parked along both sides of Riverside Avenue west of the four-way intersection, where they will be on display until 3:30 p.m. Trophy winners will be announced at that time.

Spectators are encouraged to park at the Winthrop Barn or at the Winthrop Town Trailhead and walk to downtown. The event is free; T-shirts will be available for sale for $20 during the show.

To register your vehicle if you would like to be part of the parade.

  • visit https://winthropwashington.com/events/wheels-show/ and register online.
  • register in person on Friday (Sept. 16) from 5-7 p.m. at Mack Lloyd Park; $15 cash only.
  • register in person on the day of the event at the Winthrop Inn parking lot from 9-10:30 a.m.; $15 cash only.

All entrants will be eligible for awards, including Best in Show, People’s Choice Award, and awards from Winthrop merchants. Gather at the Winthrop Inn as early as 9 a.m.

A poker run for entrants will begin immediately after the show and ends at 5 p.m.
