It wasn’t exactly a graduation party, but Okanogan County Fire District 6 employees and volunteers gave their hats a good celebratory toss at last weekend’s grand opening of the district’s new fire station in Winthrop. The event drew a big crowd of young and old, who shared lunch and got a close-up view of the district’s firefighting apparatus. Completion of the station is the culmination of years of efforts to build a new facility in Winthrop.
