
Francis Ralph Gandy Jr., resident of Edelweiss, Winthrop, Washington, passed away Aug. 20, 2022, in Omak, Washington, at the age of 87 years, after a valiantly fought battle with cancer.
Ralph was born Aug. 13, 1935, in Long Beach, California, at Seaside Hospital to Francis Ralph Gandy Sr. and Florence Margaret (Peggy)Taylor.
Ralph spent some time in the U.S. Coast Guard as well as the State Department where he was stationed in Yemen.
He later attended Azusa Pacific University and earned a degree in teaching. He taught for many years at Lone Hill Middle School in San Dimas, California, as a science teacher, and also served as faculty president for many years and was highly respected.
Ralph retired in June of 2000 and moved to the Methow Valley in 2001. He loved the Methow Valley, as well as numerous European travels and adventures. Wherever he found himself, he always enjoyed walking and hiking, affectionately known as “The Walking Man” to all who knew him. Ralph lived life to the fullest!
He is predeceased by his parents; son Cristian Gandy; former wife Joan Davis; and his beloved feline family Pasquale and Cartouche.
Left behind to mourn are his sisters Sue (Carole) Schwuchow, Joan C.J. Smith; granddaughter Teresa Joy Gandy; nieces Lynea Lunden (Chris), Jill Friesen (Jamie), Peggy Fletcher (Dave), as well as their children Jeremy Oliver, Rachel and Caitlin Friesen, Ben and Josh Fletcher; along with many friends near and far.
