Andrew Carr successfully defended his 2021 crown on Sunday (Aug. 28), winning the 2022 Bear Creek Men’s Club Championship Tournament. Carr recorded a 36-hole total of seven over par 151. His two-round total was six strokes better than second-place Silas Shaw at 157. Shaw was awarded the handicap division winner with a net score of 151.
Twenty-one members participated in the two day tourney, played over Saturday and Sunday. Lloyd Ritchie took closest to the pin honors on Saturday. Stuart O’Farrell nailed a shot on Sunday to within 2 feet of the pin on hole No. 11 for the closest shot of the weekend.
The Bear Creek Men’s Club continues its Wednesday evening events through the month of September. Guests are welcome to visit through the remainder of the season. Tee time will shift in September to 4:30 p.m.
The local golf course saw its third hole-in-one this summer on Aug. 20 when Randy Gregg, visiting the Methow from Alaska, dropped an ace in the cup on the 115-yard hole No. 2. Earlier this summer, Brad King of Twisp carded two aces only two weeks apart.
