Arts Briefs: Confluence’s Home Tour, Poetry in the park, Ross painting classes

June 29, 2022 by Methow Valley News

Confluence’s Home Tour

The Confluence: Art in Twisp will present its 19th annual Methow Valley Home Tour on Saturday, July 9, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This year’s theme is “ARTful Living in Twisp.” The 2022 Home Tour features eight homes in and around the robust art community of Twisp. The artistry and craftmanship of local architects and builders are evident in the houses featured this year.

The tour will also showcase one of the nine homes designed, built and made possible by the Methow Housing Trust over the last two years.

Tour tickets are available through Brown Paper Tickets, or at The Confluence. Attendees must pick up their wristband at The Confluence prior to the tour. Participants should be 12 years of age or older.

Tickets are $30 per person; or $25 per person for carpool of four or more; or $25 per bicycle. Tickets and wristbands will also be available for purchase on July 9 from 9 a.m. – noon at the Mazama Store and at The Barnyard Cinema in Winthrop.

Poetry in the park

Confluence Poets will host a poetry reading with accompanying musical performances by Ken Bevis and Theresa Hayden, on July 8 at Confluence Park on Riverside Avenue in Winthrop. The event, with the theme of “Rivers,” begins at 7 p.m. Bring a chair or blanket for seating.

Ross painting classes

TwispWorks will offer several classes on the Bob Ross wet-on-wet painting technique this summer, with Ross-certified instructors Jolene Culler and Cheryl Brundage. The classes, which cost $75 each including supplies, are from noon – 3 p.m. on July 9, July 23, Aug. 13 and Aug. 27. Visit twispworks.org for more information.

Montgomery headlines county fair

Award-winning country western recording artist Eddie Montgomery of Montgomery Gentry will headline live entertainment at the Okanogan County Fair with a concert on Sept. 8. The concert, which is free with fair admission, begins at 8 p.m. and coincides with the fair’s 75th anniversary.

With 20-plus charted singles, the Kentucky native has earned Country Music Association, Academy of Country Music, and Grammy awards and nominations.

Fair tickets can be purchased online at okanogancounty.smashpass.com. For more information about Eddie Montgomery of Montgomery Gentry, see montgomerygentry.com.
