Repair work on both of the bridges in Winthrop is expected to slow traffic through the town for the next couple of weeks.
The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) said in its weekly construction travel advisory that a contractor will be patching the decking on the Chewuch River bridge and also on the Methow River Bridge, both on State Route 20 through Winthrop.
The bridge work schedule is Monday through Friday, WSDOT said. Motorists should expect lane closures and flagger-controlled traffic with delays while contractors are at work on the bridges. Traffic control will be place 24 hours a day during the week. The bridges will be open to normal traffic on weekends. Work on the bridges is expected to wrap up by June 24, WSDOT said.
